CC Sabathia won his fifth consecutive win by beating Rick Porcello in a Cy Young winners’ duel, and the New York Yankees swept the Boston Red Sox 8-0 on Wednesday.

The last time Sabathia (7-2) won five consecutive starts was in April 2012. He allowed five hits in eight innings, his longest opening since April 2015. He did not give walks and struck out five, four of them without Throw him
The left-hander has a 1.11 ERA during his streak, and his five wins have been after defeats by Masahiro Tanaka, who replaced Sabathia as ace in the New York rotation. Sabathia left the game after 95 pitches, and was unable to complete his first shutout since 2011.

Porcello (3-8) lost his third opening in a row. He received six runs – five clean – as well as eight hits in six and one-third innings.
