Rougned Odor can buy a lot of hay and perhaps more horses that will feed on it. He has signed a new contract with the Texas Rangers.
The young midfielder agreed on Thursday to a six-year deal, which includes a club option for 2023 and guarantees a payout of at least $ 49.5 million. The agreement was reached when the Rangers, champions of the Western Division of the American League, added as payment two horses.
“I have a passion for horses,” said Odor. ”I love horses. It’s one of my hobbies, being close to the horses. ”

So when general manager Jon Daniels saw that Odor lacked some enthusiasm for the convention numbers, he decided to show him a quarter-mile photo.
“In our policy, when we make an offer contract, we copied the player,” Jon Daniels, general manager and president of baseball operations, told reporters. ” So with those numbers in front of him, he put on a serious face. Nothing changed. Then I slipped my phone with a picture of the horses towards him and said, ‘Well, can you send them to me?’ His eyes lit up, and I thought, ‘Well, maybe we have the chance.’ ‘
As for the money, Odor obtained a bonus of two million dollars for stamping its signature. There is an alternative of renewing the club, for 13.5 million dollars for 2023, with a termination clause of three million.
The Venezuelan salary will be one million dollars in this campaign. It will increase to three million in 2018 and to 7.5 million in 2019.
Odor will accrue nine million in 2020, before getting 12 million in each of the last two years of the agreement.
