The ace Corey Kluber was activated by the Indians and was scheduled as the opener on Thursday to close the series against the Athletics.
Kluber made his first start since May 2, when he had to relinquish his appearance against the Tigers after three innings due to a back pain. In that exit, the right granted five races and seven hits, in addition loaded with the defeat. The right-hander went on the disabled list for 10 days the next day with a jerk on the back.
In his only rehab opening for Double-A Akron last Friday, Kluber threw five unseen chapters (47 pitches), allowing just one hit.
