Former Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Pedro Guerrero battled for his life at a New York hospital since Monday but showed a slight improvement Tuesday, his wife Roxanna Guerrero told ESPN Digital.
“Pedro suffered a massive stroke, but in the last few hours he has improved,” Roxanna Guerrero said from Manhattan’s Lenox Hill Hospital near noon on Tuesday. “It’s serious, very bad, but it’s alive. Even doctors are waiting for your blood pressure to drop so you can take the breathing tube and you can breathe on your own. ”
Ms. Guerrero explained that she and her husband were driving to a gym near their home in Queens around 6 pm Monday when Pedro began to feel cramps in his head and stopped. The emergency room ambulance took him to the Jamaica Center Hospital in Queens for being the closest, but then moved to Lenox Hill, where two years ago underwent an operation to put a bypass in the brain.
