One night after the monumental bout that ended in sanction for Washington outfielder Bryce Harper and San Francisco reliever Hunter Strickland, both teams faced off without incident.
The two players appealed their punishments and may continue to compete until the claims are resolved.
The only reminder of the scolding came when Harper was booed by the AT & T Park stand at every at-bout. The Nationals’ striker, whom MLB had sanctioned with four suspension games earlier Tuesday, failed to hit five hits at the plate, received three and left the bases full on two occasions.
For the Giants, Orlando Calixte 5-2, with two RBIs; Eduardo Núñez of 5-1, with an annotated one. The Venezuelan Gorkys Hernandez of 2-1, with an annotated one.
