Jose Altuve calls J.J. Watt ‘part of the squad’ and sends special gift

In the aftermath of devastating Hurricane Harvey, the city of Houston undoubtedly was brought together by the sports world this year.

The city found a community leader in the Texans’ J.J. Watt, who raised more than $37 million for hurricane relief efforts, and the Astros’ first World Series championship gave Houston a reason to celebrate.

Astros second baseman Jose Altuve wanted to thank Watt for all he did to support Houston and even went as far as calling him “part of the squad.” In a letter to Watt, Altuve asked his “H-town brother” to accept a gift of fine whiskey, which he also gave to all of his Astros teammates.

Watt took to Twitter to share Altuve’s message and sent “much love” to the second baseman thanking him for the gift.

The full message reads:

J.J. —

From one H-town brother to another thanks for all you’ve done this year for the city we call home. Your support for all things Houston — from hurricane relief, to being our number one fan — has been nothing short of incredible.

So, I hope you’ll accept this fine whiskey gift I gave all my teammates following our championship win because to me, you’re absolutely part of the squad.

Cheers,

Jose
