With a runner in second base and two outs in the seventh, San Francisco opted to give a deliberate ticket to Dansby Swanson, eighth in the batting order of Atlanta, to face Garcia.
The decision turned against the Giants when Garcia connected a single to left field for Tyler Flowers to score from Monday. A Brandon Belt pitch from the left hit Flowers and swerved, allowing Swanson to put the 2-0 on the board after a throwing error.
For the Braves, the Venezuelan Ender Inciarte 4-0. The Mexican Jaime García of 3-1, with an impelled. Danny Santana of 1-0. For the Giants, the Dominican Eduardo Núñez of 4-2.
