The Toronto Blue Jays placed left-hander Francisco Liriano on the disabled list for 10 days because of a shoulder injury, and called from the Minor Leagues to Venezuelan right-hander Leonel Campos.
Liriano allowed on Wednesday seven runs in just over two innings. Lirian is the third starting pitcher on the disabled list, along with left-hander J.A. Happ (for an elbow injury) and Aaron Sanchez (for a blister).
Toronto also does not have the services of third baseman Josh Donaldson (left calf injury), shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (right hamstring injury) and receiver Russell Martin (left shoulder).
The six injured players have a combined $ 84 million salary.
Campos pitched in a game for Toronto this season. He is 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA in nine games in Triple A.s to the Cleveland Indians – his worst performance of the season – and failed to complete four innings for the second straight opening. He is 2-2 with a 6.35 ERA in seven starts.
