Dodgers beat the Cubs behind Wood, Gonzalez

Alex Wood admitted two hits in five scoreless innings, Chase Utley and Adrián Gonzalez fired home runs and the Los Angeles Dodgers blew the Chicago Cubs 4-0 on Friday in the first game of their series.

Wood extended his best personal streak without allowing runs to 25 episodes and a third, the best data in the majors so far this season. The left began the course in the bullpen, had a chance thanks to the injury of one of the Dodgers’ starters and since then he did not get off the rotation.

Wood (6-0) struck out eight and walked two.

The Dodgers have won nine of their last 11 games at home and their 19-8 record at their home stadium is the second best in the competition.

Jake Arrieta (5-4) is still struggling with the current Major League champion, who cut a three-game winning streak. The right-hander gave up four runs and five hits in six innings, with nine strikeouts and a ticket.

For the Cubs, Willson Contreras 3-0. The Puerto Rican Javier Báez of 3-1.
