Khris Davis hit a three-run homer, Paul Blackburn threw a one-run run to the eighth inning for his first major league victory and the Oakland Athletics beat the Seattle Mariners 7-4 on Thursday.
Davis’ 24th homer propelled four runs in the fifth inning and put the A’s ahead 7-0. Marcus Semien, who returned from the injured list Thursday, hit a single at the start of the inning and Cuban Yonder Alonso walked.

Davis, struck in his first two at-bats, managed to hit the center to put the score 6-0. With two outs, Bruce Maxwell added a solo homer, his first, to beat starter Sam Gaviglio (3-4).
Blackburn’s only career (1-0) was Mitch Haniger’s seventh homer, a solo shot in the fifth inning. Blackburn allowed eight hits and walked on seven innings and two-thirds, his second consecutive best start. He conceded a dirty career in six innings without a decision in his debut on Saturday.
