Kris Bryant, Jason Heyward and Ben Zobrist raced solo homers and the Chicago Cubs defeated the San Francisco Giants 5-1 on Thursday to clinch three of their four games.
Chicago scored two more runs in the eighth thanks to an uncontrolled pitch by reliever Josh Osich.

Bryant kicked off the bout with a slam dunk in the first inning against starter Jeff Samardzija (1-6), who allowed all three homers and loaded with the setback. Hewyard shook his bogey in the fifth, and Zobrist in the sixth.
Eddie Butler (2-0) took the win with five innings, in which he admitted four hits, one run, struck out one and awarded two tickets. Mike Montgomery added his first ransom of the year in four-episode work.
