Cardinals beat Marlins thanks to rookie Luke Voit

Rookie Luke Voit hit his first major home run and produced four runs, five-time Tommy Pham and the San Luis Cardinals beat the Miami Marlins on Monday.

San Luis scored four runs in the first inning and seven in the third, heading to an 11-0 lead. Voit added a two-run homer in the eighth, for the Cardinals’ fifth win in six games.

Adam Wainwright (9-5) claimed his second successive victory and also produced two runs when connecting a single with full bases.
The Marlins have lost five of six.

Miami starter Jeff Locke (0-5) allowed 11 hits and 11 earned runs in 2 2/3 innings.

For the Marlins, Marcell Ozuna of 5-1, one run scored and three RBIs. Martín Prado of 3-1, a scorer.

For the Cardinals, Puerto Rican Yadier Molina 3-3, one run scored and three RBIs.
